Reiki healing

Reiki restores the energy balance, removes blockages and brings deep relaxation.

Reiki consists of two words: Rei and Ki, which together mean “Universal Life Energy”.

The story goes that Mikao Usui, a Japanese theologian, went in search of the explanation why special people like Buddha and Jesus were able to heal others by laying on hands.

For years he searched for answers in libraries and old texts. Eventually he came into contact with the abbot of a nearby monastery. He told him that in the past people fasted and meditated to overcome problems. People retreated to the top of a holy mountain to find answers, although this was dangerous at the time.

Nevertheless, Usui did not let that stop him and started his own search.

On the mountain top he placed 21 stones in front of him. Every day he threw one away to keep track of the days. Nothing happened for weeks, but on the morning of the 21st day he fell into a deep trance.

He saw a bright white light and in it patterns that he recognized from the writings of Buddha. He immediately understood how to use this knowledge.

On his last day, he went down to share his experience with the people.

On the way, he stubbed his toe. He automatically put his hands on it, and the pain disappeared. Later, he helped someone with a toothache in the same way, and here too the pain disappeared.​

Soon, people were queuing up to be treated by him.

Because he could not do it alone, he began to teach others how to treat themselves. This is how the method we now know as Reiki came into being.​

Mikao Usui died in March 1926, but his method lives on.

My Reiki journey: from curiosity to mastery

Reiki has had a place in my life since the 90s. That was when I first came into contact with this special method, but I didn’t give myself the chance to really get started with it. Was it fear of failure? Or difficulty spending money on myself? Who knows.

It wasn’t until February 2019 that I finally took the plunge and started my Reiki training at ZoMa Opleidingen in Westervoort. That’s where I obtained my first degree. I am now a Reiki Master and Reiki has enriched my life in a special way.

What do you feel with Reiki?

People often ask me: “What do you actually feel during a treatment?”
For me, Reiki is a deeply soothing experience. When I open my crown chakra, I feel tingling in my hands and a warm flow of energy through my body, from my head to my heart and my hands. This is a moment of pure gratitude, in which I feel connected to healing energy.

What does a Reiki treatment look like?

If you choose to experience a Reiki treatment with me, we start with a quiet conversation in our Casita. While enjoying a glass of tea or water, I explain what you can expect. Then I invite you to lie down on the comfortable treatment table, just on your back.

In a room with soft background music, you can relax with your eyes closed (but that is not necessary). After my opening ceremony, in which I scan my own body and invite the Reiki energy, I start the healing.

The session lasts about an hour. During this time I work on removing old patterns and blockages, so that your energy flows can flow freely again. Unlike some colleagues, I usually keep my hands above the body, except at a few pressure points at the end of the healing. For me, the Reiki energy feels more powerful this way and the exchange of energy more intense.

After the treatment you feel relaxed, while the Reiki energy works through your body. It is important to walk barefoot afterwards (preferably), preferably outside, in the garden or on a balcony. This helps your body to let released energies flow back to the earth. Drinking plenty of water is also essential to complete the cleansing.

Distance treatments

In addition to treatments in the Casita of Villa de la Tierra, I also offer Reiki healing at a distance. This may sound a bit abstract to many, but compare it to prehistoric internet: we accept that it works, even if we don’t see it. Through the morphogenetic field I make contact with you and I can treat specific parts of your body. Think of my energy as a message that travels through the prehistoric network. It may be difficult to imagine, but believe me: it works, as many of my clients have experienced.

A title with a smile

Some of my regular clients call me “the man with the golden hands.” At first I found that uncomfortable, but now I understand what they mean. My hands have literally and figuratively become worth gold for my healings and the people I help.
