We already had the name for our house in Spain long before we ever found this place — and we are convinced that it helped us attract it into our lives.
If, for example, we had been searching for a Finca de la Tierra, this house would never have come our way.
On May 12th, 2018, we were spending the day in Zwolle because we had a wedding party that evening for John and Gert.
In a little shop in the city center, we came across some beautiful little bowls and decided to buy them for our future house in Spain.
It may seem like a small thing, but this was the very first physical manifestation of our dream. Something tangible we would keep safely packed away until we would live there.
Later, sitting on a terrace, we enjoyed the sunshine and our first purchase – and, of course, dreamed even further. We had seen online that there were many affordable houses for sale in the Valencia region: charming farms, typical Spanish houses, chalets, villas. Often with a name.
What should our future house be called?
Our imagination ran wild again.
It had to reflect what we truly envisioned.
We went over our wishlist and the pictures we held in our minds:
Close to nature, a big plot of land, a spacious house with a pool…
From our deep desire to connect with nature, we thought about doTERRA, the essential oils brand we use daily to support our health in a natural way. The name means from the Earth in Portuguese. In Spanish, that would be de la Tierra.
Finca de la Tierra?
Casa de la Tierra?
Villa de la Tierra?
A beautiful large house with a pool and a stunning view, close to nature – that’s what lit us up, and this name captured that feeling perfectly.
The name was born.
And from that moment on, we were searching for Villa de la Tierra.
Happily, we strolled through the streets of Zwolle with a physical piece of our dream in a bag and a name for our dream in our minds.
